Blood Pressure Reading

Information for Patients who are Required to Provide a Blood Pressure Reading

You can do this in one of three ways:

  • Make an appointment to see a Health Care Assistant - our HCA is normally here Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
  • Attend the surgery and use our patient self service BP machine which is situated in the ground floor sub-waiting area close to where our GPs are now working from. Please ask at reception for details if you cannot locate it. Please follow the instructions carefully on how to take a reading and hand this in to reception to be added to your record. Your name and date of birth must be added on the back when you hand this in. This option saves you making an appointment to see anyone and you can attend Monday-Friday 8am to 7pm whilst we are open.
  • Drop in some home blood pressure readings.

In most cases a normal BP is 140/90 or less unless advised otherwise 140/80 or less if diabetic. Please ensure you have followed the instructions carefully and repeat the test if necessary. If your BP reading is outside this range please consider taking up to 3 readings and only submit the best one to reception. If your BP is still considered high the GP will arrange to contact you.
